ABOUT OLD DOGS ROCK

We celebrate dogs and music with our whole hearts here. We’re visual storytellers across musical genres with a huge sense of humor—drawn to new sounds, collabs, and how music evolves. We get excited about music in a way that demands a creative outlet, and this platform is exactly that for us. In honor of our sweet namesake Rocky, who passed in 2024 from Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (CCD), we share occasional, non-medical tips and information to help others spot the signs. Thanks for visiting our little creative corner full of dogs, new and old tunes, nostalgia, and a sprinkle of CCD awareness

🎵 What We’re Listening To

🎶 Sublime

In the track above, you’re hearing something that feels both brand new… and deeply familiar. Sublime’s “Until the Sun Explodes” carries that unmistakable laid-back groove, but there’s a new energy running through it — one that ties the past directly into the present.

At the center of it all is Jakob Nowell, the son of original frontman Bradley Nowell. And this isn’t just a tribute or a passing moment — it’s something much bigger. Jakob stepping into this role feels like a full-circle continuation of a sound that never really left us. The voice, the spirit, the storytelling… it’s different, but there are moments where it hits in a way that longtime fans instantly recognize. Not imitation — evolution.

This new era of Sublime also includes core members Eric Wilson (bass), who has been there since the very beginning, helping anchor that signature sound, along with Bud Gaugh returning on drums — bringing back the rhythmic backbone that helped define the band’s original feel. Rounding out the current lineup are talented touring and contributing musicians who help fill out the live and studio sound, but at its core, this is a blend of legacy and renewal.

The band has also released “Ensenada,” another track that leans into their coastal, sun-soaked vibe — the kind of song that instantly transports you somewhere warm, nostalgic and a little bit carefree.

Together, these releases hint at a bigger picture.

That bigger picture is their upcoming album, “Look at All the Love We Found”, set to release June 12th. The title alone feels intentional — reflective, almost like a nod to everything the band has been through and everything that’s carried forward.

What makes this moment stand out isn’t just the music — it’s the story behind it. Sublime was never about perfection. It was raw, real and a little unpredictable. And somehow, that same energy is still here… just seen through a different lens now.

There’s something powerful about a band not just continuing — but evolving in a way that still honors where it all started. And with Jakob Nowell stepping in, it doesn’t feel like a reboot.

It feels like a continuation.

We’ve included “Until the Sun Explodes” above — take a listen and feel where this next chapter is heading…
